“It’s unclear why Britain’s NME would have their hands on a new poem by Jay-Z, but if they do, and it’s real, Hova’s done dropping the word bitch thanks to newborn daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The poem is said to sport lines like: “Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich/I didn’t think hard about using the word bitch/I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it/Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it.”

Jay-Z Supposedly Retiring the Word Bitch | Vulture
:’)
okay, here’s the thing about this: I love Jay-Z (obv) and I think he is a good example of standing up for personal beliefs in an industry that doesn’t usually support that, but this seems so annoyingly preachy I really don’t like it. It’s not even “I’m not going to use the word ‘bitch’ anymore because I have a daughter and it makes me uncomfortable” but it’s “hey man FUCK YOU I HAVE A DAUGHTER”. When did Jay Z turn into Detective Stabler? I would think that if he really believed this, he wouldn’t have used this word when he got married, maybe? or is it okay to call someone else’s daughter bitch if you’re married to her? I just feel like his logic is a little close minded and condescending, especially since he’s a rapper that usually goes against those two things.
